Each year, local Maine artists more than meet the challenge of decorating dozens of “Atlantic Giant” pumpkins that are displayed in downtown Damariscotta & Newcastle during Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta™.
Each pumpkin comes with a story about their tight-knit community - the grower who brought it to them, the business that helped sponsor the festival, and the artist who brings it to creative life. This information can be found on each pumpkin’s display card. Information is also available on a printable Pumpkin Guide that will be available online and in printed form at local stores and at the Water St. information table on October 9.
Maine's Pumpkin Trail
The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta is also part of Maine’s Pumpkin Trail from Labor Day through Halloween, to celebrate the arts, history, and giant fruit of Midcoast Maine. Maine’s Pumpkin Trail covers 40 miles of Maine’s most charming coastline and features the Maine Maritime Museum, Visit Freeport, Boothbay Railway Village, and Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. Squashbucklers, fall foliage seekers, and artists young and old will find fun events for the entire family.
