Long Grain is regularly described as ‘the best Thai food in Maine.’
Since 2009, Long Grain owners Bas Nakjaroen and Paula Palakawong have been blending Asian cuisines with local and seasonal ingredients. If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path menu inspired by Thai, Singaporean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Japanese flavors, this is a place that belongs at the top of your short list (whether you’re a local or not).
Foodies will enjoy scratch-cooked dishes reflecting Nakjaroen’s expertise, earning him recognition as a 2014 James Beard Award Semifinalist. And don’t worry if you have more of a simpleton’s palate (like me), you’ll still be obsessed with this spot. I can’t get enough of their Chicken Pad Thai or their Pad Seaw. (They’re also known for their Vegan options!)
