Getting to Vinalhaven
If you don’t have a sea-worthy vessel of your own, you can take a ferry from the Rockland Terminal. It’s a 75 minute ride, and there’s lots to see on the ride out to the island. Vehicles are allowed, but we suggest registering 24 hours in advance as residents get first priority.
Islesboro
Islesboro presents a tableau of coastal sophistication where grand homes stand sentinel along quiet lanes. Here, life moves at a slower cadence, inviting you to savor the subtleties. No boat? No worries! Take the ferry from Lincolnville - it’s a short 20 minute ride. Vehicles are allowed, but we suggest registering 24 hours in advance as residents get first priority. You’ll want a vehicle or bike to get around this island.
Monhegan Island

Getting to Monhegan
Take the ferry from Port Clyde - it’s a little over an hour depending on which boat you’re on. No cars are allowed, so be sure to pack some comfortable shoes or hiking boots. We highly suggest making your reservations ahead of time as spots go quickly on sunny days.

This island is a bit further away - a beautiful two-hour drive, and a 75 minute boat ride via Isle au Haut Boat Services will get you to this hidden gem. No cars are allowed, but we brought our bikes for an additional fee.
