5 Reasons To Sail A Morning in Maine
Captain Tyler is making Rockland, Maine a Day Sail Destination, and trust us, you don’t want to miss it!
#1: Captain Tyler is AWESOME
In addition to making sure you feel at ease right off the bat, he’s a wealth of information about the area, the vessel, and a gifted conversationalist. Added bonus: Captain Tyler doesn’t deliver the facts like a tour guide. Instead, you’ll feel like you’re talking with a friend.
And if you ask him nicely, he’ll even let you steer the boat!
#2: So Much to See
One thing we can promise: your eyes won’t get bored! From views of the other schooners and lobster boats, the Rockland breakwater, Monroe Island, the Owls Head Lighthouse and more, your phone’s camera is going to see a lot of action! ;)
If you’re in town for a bachelorette party or a friend’s birthday, we recommend renting the entire schooner out for a private event. It can fit up to 20 people and it’s BYOB!
#3: Wildlife Sightings
This is a picture from our actual trip out into Penobscot Bay! The porpoise jumped up several times to say hello, and he was less than 75’ from the boat! Super cool!
Captain Tyler says there are regular wildlife sightings on the two hour outings each day. Eagles, seals, osprey, porpoises. Keep an eye out and you’re almost sure to see something!
#4: Sunset Sails + More
Who doesn’t want epic vacation pictures? Whether you’re setting sail with friends, family, or your significant other, a midcoast Maine sunset from the water is something spectacular to behold. And you’re going to want photos to remember it.
Captain Tyler is also be offering evening cruises with live music this summer, so be sure to check his sailing calendar to see what else is going on!
#5: Pack Some Snacks and BYOB!
Instead of over-priced restaurant drinks, take the sunset sail, and BYOB. That’s right - you can bring beer or wine, or your favorite mixed drink to enjoy as the wind whips through your hair and you breathe in the fresh ocean air as you watch the sun go down behind Camden Hills in Penobscot Bay.
Insider’s tip: Bring a sweatshirt. Captain Tyler has blankets in case you get really cold, but take it from a couple of Mainers: you’ll want your sweatshirt too!
