Alida Field + Hundred Acres

Welcome to Hundred Acres, the distinctive boutique owned by Alida Field, located on Main Street in Camden. Alida, who relocated to Rockport in 2020, has a diverse background that spans creative writing, journalism, and theater in NYC and LA. Her experiences, especially her affinity for the immediate feedback of live theater, have deeply influenced her approach to creating a welcoming and vibrant store atmosphere.

In March 2022, inspired by an available space on Main Street, Alida decided to channel her creative energy into launching Hundred Acres. The store has quickly become a favorite spot for unique hostess and birthday gifts, featuring a varied selection from plush bedding and fine glassware to quirky pantry staples like Amish honey. Alida's penchant for the unusual—"I love weird stuff," she notes—guides her eclectic and slightly irreverent curation.

The boutique serves both the local community and visitors, offering women's clothing and carefully chosen toys, along with other curated items. Alida's product choices are guided by personal connection and a keen sense of what feels right, a process she describes as intuitive: “I’ve always been decisive about whether I feel a connection to a product and that’s where I operate from.” This connection often brings her back to cherished memories of her grandmother, whose elegance and supportive presence continue to inspire Alida.

With three young children who often treat the shop as a treasure trove, Alida ensures that even the selection of children’s toys reflects a blend of educational value and aesthetic appeal, influenced by her own educational experiences and her mother's career in interior design.

Alida appreciates the deep connections and the sense of belonging that running Hundred Acres has brought her. She values the cycles of life she witnesses through her customers—from joyful beginnings to poignant transitions—all within the context of a supportive community of fellow shop owners. "There’s a great camaraderie here," she reflects, emphasizing the strong bonds among local business owners.

Hundred Acres is not just Alida Field’s business—it's a central part of her life, interwoven with personal history and community engagement, offering a shopping experience that’s as rich in stories as it is in merchandise.
