Camden Harbor Cruises

Liz and Dominic Gioia didn’t set out to run a harbor cruise business, but nearly a decade later, their two-boat operation has become one of the most educational and family-friendly experiences on Camden’s waterfront. Camden Harbor Cruises offers daily narrated trips aboard the Lively Lady, a classic lobster boat that departs up to four times a day from the public landing. For those looking for a more private outing, the Periwinkle is available for charters and island transport. On board, passengers can expect a lively mix of seal sightings, lighthouse views, and hands-on learning—complete with a lobster trap haul and a baiting demo for the kids.

The Gioias employ a dynamic crew, including marine biologists, high schoolers, and even a local blueberry farmer, all of whom bring their own stories and knowledge to each cruise. No two trips are the same, but all are designed to give visitors a window into working harbor life. Their three-hour Sunday lighthouse cruise covers five lighthouses in one loop, a favorite among guests checking off coastal landmarks. Private bookings range from birthday parties to wedding ceremonies, with guests encouraged to bring their own food and drinks aboard. Liz puts it simply: “Whether you’re two or 102, there’s always something to learn out on the water.”

FAMOUS FOR:
Offering the only narrated lobster boat tours departing from Camden Harbor, combining hands-on lobster trap demonstrations with scenic cruises to iconic lighthouses. Their three-hour Sunday morning trip is especially popular with lighthouse lovers, covering five Midcoast beacons in one loop. With a knowledgeable crew and an approachable, educational format, the Gioias have created an experience that’s as engaging for local schoolkids as it is for well-traveled visitors.
