This local gem is more than just a restaurant – it's a hub of camaraderie, where locals gather, and faces are familiar. The menu is an adventure, taking you off the beaten path of traditional dining. Rada's dedicated staff, who have stood by her side for years, contribute to the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere.
Quench your thirst with a selection of 16 draft lines showcasing Maine's finest brews, alongside a curated collection of obscure wines from around the world; including renowned wineries and distinctive varietals. A standout dish that has everyone talking is the delectable mussels sourced from a local Islesboro farm.
While our current path may not allow us to explore the full cocktail and wine menu, Fresh & Co pleasantly surprised us with a mocktail menu. The Watermelon Mint Cooler was a delightful treat, striking the perfect balance between sweet, refreshing, and tangy.
Our culinary journey began with appetizers, including warm, freshly-baked pitas served with an authentic Bulgarian fire-roasted red pepper dip. Rada shared the story behind this dip, a treasured recipe from her hometown of Liutenitsa. The Korean BBQ wings with pickled celery also wowed our taste buds.
For the main course, my husband savored the Brazilian Moqueca, a seafood stew brimming with flavors, accompanied by fresh mussels. Meanwhile, I relished the hanger steak. The dining experience culminated in a delightful dessert spread, featuring cappuccino, Panna Cotta, and a luscious chocolate pot de creme.
The ambiance at Fresh & Co is a blend of elegance and European charm, transporting you to a different place altogether. Vibrant throw pillows, cozy private booths, and outdoor seating create an inviting atmosphere. The service is exceptional, with servers well-versed in both the menu and the extensive wine list.
