Leslie Curtis, owner of Leslie Curtis Designs (@lesliecurtisdesigns) was drawn to the community spirit of Camden, after vacationing here more than 15 years ago. She sold her homes in LA and Cape Cod to put down roots in the Midcoast. “People were so helpful and wonderful and kind; I just wanted to be part of it,” she explains.

What started as casual assistance for friends’ design projects soon evolved into a thriving business as Leslie’s unique style garnered widespread acclaim. “Today,” she says, “clients often ask me to “Leslie-ize” their homes.”

Before moving to Camden, Leslie enjoyed a successful career as a model and received her education at Boston’s Museum School. She then moved to New York, where she worked with top modeling agencies and in her early career, starred in commercials. Leslie also maintains a close relationship with her former stepdaughter, actress Jamie Lee Curtis, saying, “We talk or text every day.”

Leslie is currently managing multiple design projects and finds that Camden’s allure is a magnet for people from across the U.S. and around the world. “It’s magical for people of all ages,” Leslie says. “This part of Midcoast Maine has a relaxed elegance that’s truly unique.”
